So relatable. lol What I remember about Badminton growing up is that the poles holding up the net were just as flimsy as the racket and the birdie, and at some point they snapped like twigs and no amount of duct tape, yes that neverfail go to in every toolbox, could keep them upright. We had no trees in our back yard at the time but the birdie found its way into other yards, and trees…by the next summer we had three saplings and a playhouse on stilts (due to the trees being saplings) in the back yard, and no badminton gear anywhere on our property.

Producer: So Mary, Michael Phelps just cancelled his interview and we've got nothing for the next 3:45. Can you fill that time? Mary Carillo: I've been waiting for this moment my whole life..

I have a feeling this inspired Chris Flemming as a comedian.

Why does this look like it was filmed in 1985?? I was a teenager in '04 and there's no way this is what TV looked like. I mean, I know we've come a long way, but there's just no way.

I just found this…how did I miss this over the yrs. I also destroyed my Crepe Myrtle tree last week as my daughter and I decided to play badminton with the set that was on sale at Big 5. Those god#&$@ birdies to have a muther$#@&$$ homing device that locks it hard into tree branches. After both rackets got stuck, I threw a softball at the tree which then clocked my daughter in the eye and swelled it. I then threw a heavy rock at it which took out a nice branch to misshape my Crepe Myrtle…now the irregularity drives me nuts. $&#$@!!! And one of the birdies is still stuck up there…

Here again for my quadrennial viewing. See y'all again in 2024.
